5. The turkeys that presidents pardon are very fortunate. They go on to enjoy their lives. The first turkey that was pardoned by George H.W. Bush in the late 1980’s started this tradition. It is curious to find out what is it that happens to the bird after it is pardoned though! Between 2005 and 2009 the turkeys were delivered to Walt Disney World and Disneyland parks. They were taken to participate in the famous parades held on Thanksgiving Day. Between 2010 and 2013 the turkeys were sent to Washington’s Mount Vernon state where the winged buddies enjoyed their own vocational season.
